First afternoon in Paris

We decided to take advantage of our flight home for Christmas by making a pit stop in Paris. Our families headed back to school while ASD had an extra week off.
Our next stretch of time in Doha will be longer than we've done before so Paris was a good distraction for saying good-bye and getting us all out the door.
This busy sight seeing trip was our first as family and it worked plus made for great memories. We knew what we were getting ourselves into with weather, babies and must-see stuff. Turned out to be well worth the effort and challenge. We moved quickly and didn't linger too long. Indeed, we left some adult sightseeing for another trip but for the most part, we saw all the hot spots and marveled at the incredible things only to be seen or experienced in Paris. The boys really enjoyed it and were patient most of the time when necessary. And Georgia...well, she was like having a baby doll in the stroller. Bless her sweet bones. She was such a trooper.

So leaving Texas after Christmas put us in a bit of a bind with luggage. Since we didn't fly direct we were only able to take 1/2 the usual luggage. So after stuffing our suitcases and trunks we still had a lot to carry-on. Nick and most of the carry-on bags.

After arriving at our apartment in the Marais area we ventured out for the afternoon explore a little. Our apartment location was perfect and full of incredible shopping that I totally missed out on. Family Trip! Nick and I agreed that Paris looked just like what we pictured. We loved it.

Didn't aim to see this but its one of the Top 10 sights to catch. Pretty cool.
Centre Georges Pompidou
Architects built it inside out and it houses the Museum of Modern Art

View from one end of the museum.

There was still some Christmas decor around. This was in front of a cute little cafe.

Near the museum was this crazy art in the middle of a Stravinsky Fountain. The Firebird usually spins and sprays water but because of the temps the fountain was drained.

Neat church...I mostly loved the red door.

A few blocks away we spent a little time in the Hotel de Ville area. Barrett got bit by the jet lag bug but the rest of us enjoyed it.

We wrapped up our night with a little pizza party back at the apartment where it was warm.
Georgia is hanging out in her "crib" in this picture. The apartment manager miscommunicated so the poor girl slept in this makeshift pallet/bed for the first couple nights. Paris was a pretty great place to kick some jet lag but after waking up to Georgia's banging at 1:00am on the trunks we moved her to sleep in the stroller for the rest of the time.

Smith Twinks!

A few months ago I missed one of my very special friend's twin baby shower with our close little intimate group of friends. We shared the moment via skype but I couldn't be there in person. Thankfully it worked out absolutely perfect for us to meet the babies just a few days after their arrival while we were in Dallas.

Caryn and I have shared some very special (live changing) times together plus just traveled down similar roads with our lives since college, marriage and babies. Well she took an entirely different path with having twins. There is no servant better for the job than my precious friend Caryn. She now has 4 boys and they couldn't be more blessed to have her for their mommy.

The older Smith boys were napping and we left the Bees at home so we could hang with the twins and their parents.
Meeting Coyt and Crew for the first time! Tiny sweet little miracles!

Caryn's sister who is another friend of mine, Kacey was in town visiting with her sweet new baby girl. Cousins just a week apart.

Totally stole this picture off their blog because these baby cousins C's are too precious!

Junods and Smiths...miss u, love u!

Last few days!

I've always had a love for cowboys!

Graham introducing Georgia to Babe's biscuits!

Georgia likes Babe's!

Something special about these two. She's got a keeper.

Honey, the preschool superwoman always has fun activities to help make busy hands into happy hands!

Making playdough

As usual Papa took the kiddos to cut down a great donut tree. I borrowed this tradition a few years ago from one of my BFFs Jenise. She grew up doing the same thing and its been such a HUGE hit.

Everyone adding the cheerio seeds...then we wait to see what happens over night??

That night we celebrated New Years just like any other night. Lots of fun with our cousins. I'm so thankful the Halls were so willing to hang at Honey and Papa's so much. We enjoyed being together with everyone so much! We soaked it all up...its a LONG time before we see them again. BOO!

These two enjoyed their alone time away from the older and much louder cousins.

DONUTS! But it was so cold!

A last minute group hug before heading to the airport.

Watkins Christmas Fiesta

Wrapping up my "home" posts is no fun. Mostly because I won't have anything to do after I'm all caught up plus there's not much to post about life in Doha right now. Little boring compared to December. So I'll live through it all again on the blog.

We headed home quickly from Houston after the Baylor game to help Honey and Papa host the Watkins Christmas Fiesta. 3 out of the 4 Watkins siblings live in the Dallas area so its one big bash when we get together with all 3 generations. Just in the last 12 months we've added 4 babies! We always miss the Criswells who live on the East and West coast. With the Dallas crew there was a total of 31 "Watki" (as we like to call them).

Enjoying the fiesta food

Bears at the Bowl Game

Since we miss out on homecoming and BU football we jumped on the opportunity to watch the Bears play in the Texas Bowl. Honey and Papa stayed back with the babies while we took the big kids, Anna and the Bees.
Our little Bears at Buc-cees! Goodness gracious its amazing! Definitely one of the best things about our trip to Houston was BUC-CEES! Its a great tragedy if you've never been and purchased.

Picked up a little cheese tray for the road.

So seriously entertained...

On our way into town we stopped for a delish bbq lunch hosted by Jackie and Mark. Made our own tailgate because of the weather! Such generous friends...check out these Bake Shoppe cupcakes...HELLO!

Love you, LaRo's!

As we made our way to Reliant a monsoon rolled in. It was insane! We were soaked!!

Look at all 'em BU fans!! So proud!

Gorgeous bird's eye view from the cheap seats, that weren't too cheap! And I zoomed in!!

Thanks to our loyal BU brothers and sisters, they hooked us up in the second quarter with some sweet seats!!! Much better view for terrible football :(

Didn't take as many pics of old friends as I wish I would have. But it was so fun to be back in the Baylor crowd!

So sad for a loss but what a great jump start for Baylor football!

Junods and Halls

Get your paws up! What you don't see is that Barrett has his other paw IN HIS PANTS!!

Barrett doing a little celebration no-rain dance!

BIG HUGS and THANKS to Honey and Papa for having their BU football watching party at home with the little ones. We missed them so much!!
